The church that is also called the Church of St.
Leopold is one of the most famous Art Nouveau churches in the
World. It is situated on the premises of the Steinhof Psychiatric
Hospital, and especially built for the "needs" of mentally diseased
(with toilettes and separated entrances for male and female patients).
Unusually the church lies on a North-South axis, at the centre-top of
the hospital complex.
It was built in 1903-1907 by architect Otto
Wagner. Open to public at Saturdays 16.00-17.00. |
